PROJECTS

LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY
The Leadership Philosophy paper was one of the first papers I wrote for the CCHE Master's program. I assessed and reflected upon my own leadership styles during this course in July 2017, about six months before I earned a promotion at work where I would supervise five other professional staff. It was important for me to flashback to this paper and consider how my previous views of myself and my leadership philosophy have changed and in which ways they are still similar. I strive to be an empathetic, supportive, and honest supervisor. I believe my leadership philosophy reflects those qualities at the time this paper was written and is still accurate now.

RESEARCH PROPOSAL
This research proposal was from my only in-person class during my CCHE coursework, Educational Research. My first experience with research methods during my time as an undergraduate was stressful. I was hoping to feel a little more confident this time around. The research proposal took significant effort and was complicated at times. The title of my proposal speaks to my interests and investment in my current work as an academic coach with first-year students: "Effects of Tutoring as an Intervention for First-Year Developmental Math Students". I was proud of the finished product.

ADULT LEARNING
This literature review explores key components that impact student retention beyond grades, numbers, and data points such as microaffirmations, positive psychology, and mindset. These strengths-based approaches are crucial to the student experience. It is important for college staff and administrators to consider the holistic student when assessing retention and attrition.

INTERACTIVE COURSE PROPOSAL
This Adobe Spark video outlines a proposed concept to teach in a college classroom. "Understanding How We Learn" explains the importance of instructors leading an interactive course, provides examples of how to engage students, and details a few of the many crucial components to learning that would be covered in the proposed course topic.

COLLEGE CONUNDRUM
This infographic provides a small snapshot into a larger concern -- is the price of college "worth" it? The infographic briefly compares and contrasts the personal, professional, and financial benefits and costs of attending college.

DISCONTINUATION OF TENURE
The continuation of tenure is a pervasive debate in higher education. While there are positives such as benefiting individual faculty and the common good, those generalized points overlook two critical flaws in the tenure system: the lack of accessibility/inclusivity of faculty and the impact of tenure on students.
This statement paper proposes a contract system in hopes to help a public four-year university become more inclusive, accessible, and supportive for the institution’s faculty and students.
