Hello!
learn more about me:
With a BA in Psychology and a minor in Adolescence, Education, and Communication and almost seven years of higher education experience, I work to promote an inclusive environment for student success at the University of Arizona's academic support center.
My role as a Learning Specialist Coordinator is very similar to that of an academic coach. I meet with students one-on-one and discuss all aspects about their life as college students. Every student brings a unique perspective and background to the university and I enjoy hearing about their experiences. It is very rewarding to be part of their college support system. In addition to supporting students, I supervise other Learning Specialists where I coach, mentor, and learn every day.
I’m currently working on my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (Community College Higher Education emphasis) through Northern Arizona University.
A few of my favorite things are food, photography, and football!

STRENGTHS
DISCIPLINE
Because of my strong organizational skills, my boss gave me more responsibility in my day-to-day work. I support her with one of our large first-year retention programs through list management and website updates.
EMPATHY
I build genuine rapport with students and staff and show that I care through active listening and intentional questioning.
"Great learning specialist, easy talk to and very supportive. She is very nice and seems like she truly cares about her students emotionally and physically. I love her personality and conversations." - First year student
RESPONSIBILITY
I am a diligent and hard worker who always makes sure to contribute quality work whether it is a report, project, or supporting a student.
"Without Carly I wouldn't have been able to figure out my financial concerns of classes for next semester and I am so grateful to have had her there for guidance. " - First year student
DEVELOPER
I consider the strengths of my students and staff when working together. I strive to support them in their areas of growth and thrive in situations where I can help them reach or exceed their potential.
"She was very helpful throughout the duration of my [math support] course. She definitely helped me with accomplishing many of the goals I was striving for." - First year student
INDIVIDUALIZATION
I take the time to understand people as individuals, learn what motivates them, and hear about their unique perspectives. Each professional staff member on my Learning Specialist team brings their own valued strengths. One of my team members is a lively and engaging presenter. I recommended him to support another colleague as she aims to revamp many workshop presentations.

Ease in navigation
Allows for exploratory clicking and self guided navigation. i.e. I can get to your “Experience” by clicking on the circle or on the heading.
Visual appeal
Layout is simple but informative. Pictures and icons help eyes focus on several pieces of the page. It is not cluttered. Bold of text is used wisely. Circle theme is consistent.
Usefulness
Profile is distinct, resume and letter help to get to know your academic/professional background as well as motivations. Projects have nice overview, but can delve into more detail if desired.
Suggestions
The circles mirror the top headings except for Endorsements. You might want to add “Endorsements” as a heading to match! I would recommend exploring other ways to break the page up, currently you are using page break lines. I’d be curious to see how it looks like with other visual elements (simple) that could help with page breaks.

Ease in navigation
The format of Carly's E-portfolio is well organized. It's easy to navigate and the pathways to the different components of her E-portfolio makes sense.
Visual appeal
Carly's E-portfolio is visually appealing. I appreciate the professional formatting. It's clear and clean while still being eye catching. The E-portfolio is a wonderful representation of Carly as a professional.
Usefulness
Yes, I could definitely see Carly using this site as a professional representation of her. It tells about her work and educational background, her philosophy as an educator, and provides samples of her work.
Suggestions
I noticed that Carly has provided links to each of her Strengths - to the Gallup website with the description. I recommend that Carly writes the descriptions in her own words and provides examples of how she demonstrates each of those strengths as a professional.
-
Carly's bio focuses on her educational and work experience-- factually. I encourage her to add a little more context to the bio. Why does she enjoy what she does? Why does she do what she does? What's her passion?
-
Along the same lines, I encourage Carly to add a sentence about who she is in additional to a professional. What does she enjoy doing in her free time-- highlight a bit of her personality (while still of course keeping it professional). As an E-portfolio, possible people viewing this would be prospective employers who would want to know more about Carly as a person. Will she be a good fit with the organization beyond her knowledge and experience?

Ease in navigation
Looks good!
Visual appeal
Clean, bright look and appeal.
Usefulness
Yes! The site is very cool. I really think it is helpful and well put together.
Suggestions
Use more active language to describe you and your work. i.e., "With a degree in XYZ and X years of experience, I work to promote an inclusive environment for student success."
I like that you include your strengths under your bio. Can you explain that or provide more info? I kind of want to click on each word to learn more.
Think about adding an objective or overview statement to your resume before jumping in to Work Experience.
Include a link to your LinkedIn profile on the same webpage as your resume or on your resume.
In general, the fewer click the better. Is there a way to set up the experience page so you don't have to click in to the 3 sub items?
Overall, great! So happy for you as you work on your final project before graduation!
